“I Want to Thank You…For Waging a War Against Iraq”: How Iran Defeated the America-Israel-Saudi Alliance in the Middle East

“Death to the Shah” shouted the British Ambassador to Iran, Anthony Parsons, as he drove to the French Embassy.

“(Americans) did us a favor…to take (out) Saddam Hussein that we (the Iranian Government) wanted to do. So, you were sacrificing your own soldiers for our aim” – diplomat Hossein Sheikholeslam to correspondent Martin Smith in Bitter Rivals: Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The British and American governments played significant roles in facilitating the fall of the Shah in 1979. From 2003, the British and American governments have catalyzed the process that has helped the post-Shah Iranian government to gain influence in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. This Iranian Governemnt has benefitted from the failed Global War on Terror (GWoT).

“The American role in Iraq is just a puzzle…Why would the Americans hand the government (of Iraq) to the allies of Iran” political sociologist, Khalid al-Dakhil.

“The United States…supports Saudi Arabia actively and tries to undermine us (Iranians) actively. We are still the most influential power in the Middle East…we have made the right choices” – Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javad Zarif in Bitter Rivals: Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Arming and Protecting Corrupt Criminals Masquerading as American-Allied Governments and Political Organizations

“Antony, you cannot say that the American government allied itself with thugs and criminals, and that is why it lacked popular support and ended up losing the war in South Vietnam and Afghanistan,” a friend told me after I had explained that the reason the American government has lost almost all military wars (not Cold Wars) since the Second World War is because of the people the Americans chose as her allies. “I am not saying that the American government allied itself with thugs and criminals because it had no better option. No, I am saying that American taxpayers’ money and military resources were deliberately used to arm and protect corrupt criminals masquerading as popular governments or political movements. Basically, the American government took money from hardworking Americans and gave it to corrupt foreign government officials so that they can oppress their hardworking citizens. That is what I am saying, and I am happy that America lost those wars” I explained myself. We were having this conversation in relation to the current war in Ukraine where the American government supports Ukrainian neo-nazis – financially, militarily, and in public relations (PR), while suppressing the voices of ordinary Americans who express what the Biden administration considers as dissident views.

I can also extend this to the support that the American government has given to the unpopular, corrupt, and feckless Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) which runs an illegitimate governemnt based on a caste system, which is why Somalis consider themselves to be better off under al-Shabaab than under the so-called FGS.

Another remarkable example of American support for corrupt and racist movements is the hosting of the racist Falun Gong offshot that runs the Epoch Media Group that produces propaganda against the Chinese government (through outlets such as China Uncensored), as well as platforms conspiracy theories such as QAnon and apologism for the January 6 Capitol attack by misinformed, disinformed, and malicious actors who believed the “Stop the Steal” conspiracy theory.

Doomed Adventure

What happens when the United States Government (USG) suppresses opinions and opposes objective reporting and research into foreign military operations? Is there been a recent American foreign military adventure that was opposed by Americans and ended up being a disaster of epic proportions? Yes, there is the Iraq war which can be described as a war lobbied by foreign interests and ended up costing Americans an estimated US$1.9-2.4 trillion and over 3400 slain American soldiers. Equally, about 110000 Iraqi were violently killed, while another 5 million Iraqis were displaced, and the political dynamics in Iraq changed to favor the rise of the Islamic State in Sunni-dominated regions and the Iranian-allied Shia movements in the Shia-dominated regions.

Who Wanted Americans to Invade Iraq?

A brutal dictator has been removed and is now being tried by a national tribunal for mass murder. Consequently, Iraq has seen movement toward democracy and toward freedom of press and speech that was unimaginable just a few years ago. A long-time destabilizing regional force has been eliminated.

Resolution Adopted by the 117th Annual Convention of the Central Conference of American Rabbis in June 2006.

Rabbi Pinchas Winston is an orthodox rabbi whose works have been popularized by mainstream platforms for Orthodox Judaism such as Aish.com, Yeshiva, and Torah.org where he has been allocated the section of Perceptions on the Parsha. The nationalist Israel National News (Arutz Sheva) has also popularized his audio podcasts and radio shows.

I know Rabbi Winston as I listened to his audio lessons (shiur) about Kabbalah, as well as commentaries about current events through a Kabbalistic perspective. In one of his radio shows hosted by Arutz Sheva, Rabbi Winston was making a commentary about the Iraq war and he vauntingly stated that the greatest enemy of the Jewish people, Saddam Hussein, was removed from power without a single Israeli soldier shedding a drop of blood. After hearing this, I decided to research about the Iraq war and what I found out was quite disconcerting. Basically, American money, blood, lives, and limbs were wasted in service to non-American interests. What’s more shocking is how the war was mismanaged by so-called “experts” who ended up being praised by the American establishment as “good governance and counter-terrorism experts”.

It is these “experts” who have now cost France its West African allies, as their “expert advice” has angered local Africans who have been subjected to brutality by increasingly inept French-backed governments that have failed to manage Islamist insurgencies. What I am saying is that the American “experts” who lobbied for the Iraq war and then mismanaged it are the same people who have caused thousands of Africans to die in Kenya, Nigeria, Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso, which has resulted in revolutionary soldiers overthrowing the governments of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.

For now, we will focus on the Iraq War, and start by asking, who wanted this war? Can we find the answer that we are looking for? Is it politically correct to try to answer this question? Let us start here.

“I want to thank you…for waging a war against Iraq”

“I want to thank you for your support of Israel and in particular for waging a war against Iraq,” said Rabbi Yona Metzger in 2008 in his capacity as the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel when he met President George Bush at Ben Gurion International Airport (natbag) in Lod. An elated George Bush simply answered that the Rabbi’s words had “warmed his heart”.
